Heavenly, Kirkwood, AND Northstar Announce 2022-2023 Planned Winter Opening Dates

22 August 2022

Lake Tahoe, Calif. — Aug. 22, 2022— Heavenly, Northstar, and Kirkwood have announced their planned opening dates for the upcoming 2022-2023 ski and ride season. Heavenly and Northstar will target their opening for Friday, November 18, and Kirkwood will target Friday, December 2.

There is a lot to celebrate this winter at our Tahoe resorts: the 2022-2023 ski and ride season marks the 50th anniversary of operations at both Kirkwood and Northstar; and Heavenly and Northstar will open their newly upgraded lifts to guests after a busy summer of construction. Heavenly is upgrading its North Bowl lift to a high-speed four-person chair and Northstar is upgrading the Comstock Express to a high-speed six-person chair.

This season, guests are encouraged to purchase their lift tickets or Epic Pass product in advance, especially as the number of lift tickets will be limited each day in order to prioritize the guest experience at each mountain. Guests can expect more normal indoor operations this season as dining facilities will no longer require proof of COVID-19 vaccinations or dining reservations.

“Our teams can’t wait to welcome guests back to our mountains for the upcoming winter season,” said Tom Fortune, VP and COO – Heavenly Mountain Resort and the Tahoe Region. “We wait with great anticipation every year for the start of ski + ride season, and I know this will be another amazing winter for all of our resorts across the Tahoe region. Most importantly, our Heavenly, Kirkwood, and Northstar teams are working incredibly hard in preparation, and their amazing dedication and focus will no doubt allow us to deliver another excellent season for our guests.”

We also know that spring skiing in our region is some of the best in the country, and the currently planned closing date for Heavenly and Northstar is Sunday, April 16, and Kirkwood plans to remain open through Sunday, April 30.

Importantly, all dates – both for opening and closing – are conditions dependent. Our resorts will begin making snow as soon as the weather will allow in the fall.
