Epic Discovery at Heavenly: On-mountain Summer Adventure
An extraordinary vacation of Epic Discovery is only a scenic gondola ride away at Heavenly. Epic Discovery provides a connected, on-mountain summer experience where guests can find active adventures and ample opportunities to better understand the unique alpine natural surroundings of the Sierra Nevada. Families and thrill-seekers alike can learn and play on zip lines, ropes courses and more while taking in 360 degree mountain and lake vistas.

Epic Discovery is a comprehensive on-mountain summer adventure that features something for everyone in the family, from soaring zip line tours with views of Lake Tahoe to relaxing mountain yoga on the Observation Deck at 9,123 feet elevation. One percent of all Epic Discovery activity revenue goes to The Nature Conservancy’s “1% For the Forest” program. Epic Discovery runs through September. Find information and hours of operation online.

Epic Discovery Activities

Fly like an Osprey
Daredevils of all ages can glide through the air on one of Heavenly’s zip lines. The Blue Streak Zip Line offers incredible views of Lake Tahoe and top speeds of 50 mph, while the Hot Shot Zip Line offers fun for groups with four parallel zip lines. For kids, the Redtail Flyer Zip Line is the perfect introduction to zip lining as it is just 15 feet off the ground and 100 feet long. Guided zip line tours provide total immersion into the unique Sierra Nevada forest habitat and a serious rush of adrenaline.

Reach New Heights
The Granite Peak Climbing Wall, a man-made rock wall inspired by the iconic rock formations found in the Sierra Nevada, is the perfect spot for climbers to test their limits. Families will also enjoy swinging through a variety of routes on the Black Bear Ropes Course, which offers a variety of routes and ends with a fun 30-foot controlled descent. First-timers can build skills on the Boulder Cove Ropes Course at the bottom of the Gondola stairs or on the kids-only Bear Cubs Ropes Course.

Play like a Kid
Kids of all ages can hop on the Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster for a gravity-powered ride that twists and turns through forest and natural rock formations. No snow? No problem.  Race down Heavenly’s 500-feet-long tubbing hill. Youngsters can send the kids-only banked Mini Tubbing hill for a pint-sized thrill.

Take in the View
A 2.4 mile ride up in the Heavenly Mountain Gondola is the only way to truly take in the panoramic views of Lake Tahoe. Stop at the Observation Deck for photos, a latte at Café Blue or a unique Heavenly souvenir at The Gondola Sports shop. At the top, head to Tamarack Express chairlift, which is included in the Scenic Gondola ticket, for more views and access to peak hiking trails.

Ultimate Adventure Pass: Make the Most of Epic Discovery
The Ultimate Adventure Pass is the best way to sample a full day of popular alpine activities like the scenic gondola ride, mountain coaster, ropes courses and tubbing. For even more fun, add on one of Heavenly’s zip line courses or guided tours.

Free Activity: Heavenly Yoga Series Presented by Supergoop
Breathe in mountain air during a free 75-minute yoga class offered outside at the Blue Sky Terrace on Fridays and Sundays. Complimentary water bottles and first-come, first-serve yoga mats are provided. Yoga series runs June through August.

Mountain Dining
Grab-and-go and sit-down dining options are available at three convenient on-mountain locations. Offerings are inspired by the backdrop of the Lake Tahoe.

Tamarak Lodge and Bar 9150': Steps away from the top of the Gondola, Heavenly’s largest dining hall offers food, snacks and drinks to fuel adventures. Scenic mountain views pair well with Bar 9150’s famous Mountain Mary.

Café Blue: Offering quick snacks, coffee and drinks and the best view in Tahoe, Café Blue is a must for a pre-hike latte or a Mid Deck Margarita after yoga. Guests should stop on the way up the Gondola, as there is no access on the way down.

Heavenly Donuts (& Shaved Ice): Find the best fresh donuts in town at the base of the Gondola in Heavenly Village. Additionally, Heavenly Donuts offers shaved ice to cool down with on hot summer days.
