2018-19 Heavenly Mountain Resort
Winter News and Story Ideas
High above the waters of Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Mountain Resort offers a rare combo of expansive terrain and a panoramic sapphire-blue backdrop. With 4,800 acres of resort to explore, lively on-mountain experiences, all at the center of a thriving community of independent breweries, restaurants and shops – winter here is special.

NEW: Lakeland Village Resort at Heavenly
The newest addition to Heavenly Mountain’s list of official lodging properties, Lakeland Village offers an expansive retreat right on the shores of Lake Tahoe. The beautiful townhome property boasts 19 acres of lakeside woodlands, beachfront residences, and stunning views of Lake Tahoe and The Sierra Nevada, all less than a mile from Heavenly. Hop aboard the Resort’s free on-site shuttle to Heavenly Mountain, restaurants and downtown. As a Vail Resorts operated property, guests are also able to purchase lift tickets on-site. Lakeland Village provides a perfect homebase for families and groups of friends to kick off a Lake Tahoe adventure, while enjoying all the benefits, amenities and unsurpassed customer service that come with staying at one of the Mountain’s official lodging properties.

NEW: Winter Guided UTV Tour
Whether you’re a skier, rider, or simply enjoying the Resort on foot, Winter UTV Tours offer a whole new way to experience Heavenly’s big time thrills and even bigger views. Tours leave from the top of the Gondola, traversing Blue Sky Terrace and past scenic viewpoints at 10,000 feet elevation. Stops are made along the way to discuss Lake Tahoe, interesting aspects of the local environment and for the chance to snap a few pictures in places that would otherwise be inaccessible.

NEW: Upgrades Arrive at Heavenly Mountain
New this season at Heavenly Mountain Resort, guests will enjoy a roomier ride up the Galaxy Chair, which has been upgraded from a double to a triple lift. The project was approached in an environmentally friendly manner, using 18 reclaimed towers from Keystone Resort and Vail Mountain in Colorado. The Resort’s snowmaking department is also receiving a boost with the addition of 48 high efficiency snow guns along the Nevada and Boulder trails. Both projects reflect Vail Resorts’ ongoing Commitment To Zero; zero net emissions, zero waste to landfill and zero net operating impact to forests and habit at all Vail Resorts’ owned properties by 2030.

Four Perfect Perches for Lake Tahoe Views
A fresh blanket of Heavenly white powder, juxtaposed with Lake Tahoe’s sapphire-blue below, may just be one of the world’s most epic views on two wood planks or a board. (1) Catch the Sky Express and head to Heavenly’s summit, offering panoramic views of the Lake from 10,067 feet. (2) For a warmer locale, pop into The Observation Deck, accessible via the Gondola, where you can cozy up with a hot cocoa atop an unrivaled viewing perch. (3) Looking for bragging rights with a beautiful blue backdrop? Head to California Trail and snap a selfie while straddling the California-Nevada state line. (4) The Lakeview Lodge backs up its name with a killer lake n’ lunch combo offering tasty fare, with a side of unobstructed views of the bi-state beauty, from a prime perch atop the Tram.

South Lake Tahoe is Hopping with Hops
The word is out. Heavenly’s hometown of South Lake Tahoe is quickly becoming known for its burgeoning base of over a dozen inventive and award winning breweries. South Lake Brewing (1920 South Lake Blvd.), self-described as both ‘family-friendly’ and ‘dog-friendly’, is just plain old friendly, and happens to be the area’s newest craft brewery. Boasting the area’s largest beer production facility, it also offers a whopping selection of up to 15 rotating beers on tap. Just down the road is another fan favorite, Lake Tahoe Aleworx (2050 Lake Tahoe Blvd). Its ever growing list of suds, so popular, that in June the brewery opened a second location, Aleworx Stateline Taproom (31 Hwy 50), with live music, craft cocktails, wood fired pizza, and of course beer, right in Heavenly Village. Also new this summer, The Hangar Taproom and Bottle Shop (2401 Lake Tahoe Blvd), offering a unique beer selection of 30 rotating taps, a bustling patio filled with games (cornhole and bocce), and its very own dog park.

Signature Experiences

  • First Tracks: Passholders and guests staying in Heavenly lodging, including Zalanta and Lakeland Village, get first dibs on picture perfect corduroy or untouched powder with access to the mountain 30 minutes early every Monday, conditions permitting.
  • Last Tracks: An exclusive perk for those staying at Heavenly’s owned and operated lodging. On Sunday nights guests are able to ski down Ridge Run at 4 p.m. after the mountain is closed to the general public, conditions permitting.
